CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is a national organization with over 950 programs across the country. It is a volunteer powered network of committed people, from all walks of life, who advocate for abused and neglected children on their journey through the youth court system.

Purpose And Role

This role focuses on documentation and processing for all types of financial transactions. The Finance Officer will enter data into QuickBooks and other bookkeeping software, compile reports, gather and organize bank statements, highlight discrepancies in company records and research possible reasons for errors or differences in expected versus actual account balances. They might also handle basic administrative duties assist other staff as needed.

Supervision

The Finance Officer will work under the supervision of the Director of Operations and report to the Executive Director.

Qualifications

The Finance Officer should have the following skills and experience:

  • A Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related, or 2-5 years’ experience in a payroll/bookkeeping
    field. (some grant writing knowledge a plus, but not required)
  • A working knowledge and understanding of QuickBooks
  • An eye for detail
  • The ability to meet deadlines
  • The ability to communicate complex data in a clear way
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • The ability to prioritize projects
  • Customer service skills
  • Excellent data entry skills
  • Payroll accounting skills

Duties and Expectation

  • Complete pre-service volunteer training within three (3) months of hire
  • Complete twelve (12) hours of continuing education annually.
  • Documenting financial transaction details and monitoring the transactions
  • Preparing and filing financial documents
  • Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Fact-checking accounting data
  • Reconciling company accounts
  • Processing payroll and tracking payroll data
  • Assisting with tax payments and returns
  • Working with staff accountants as needed

The position is a minimum of 40 hours per week. The position requires some evening and weekend work assignments.

Compensation and Benefits: Salary of $47,000/yearly, Medical insurance for the employee paid by company, Paid Sick and Vacation, 14 Federal Holidays off typically to follow county holiday schedule.
