Become A CASA Volunteer

You can be the voice a child needs.

Volunteer as a Court Appointed Special Advocate and stand up for children in foster care.

Every year, children in foster care face life-changing decisions—without a consistent adult in their corner.

That’s where you come in.

You don’t need a legal background. Just a heart to help.

We’ll walk with you every step of the way—from training to the courtroom.

Dear Friend,

Thank you for expressing an interest in working with CASA of Southeast Mississippi Inc. Our CASA volunteers will tell you that being a trained Court advocate is one of the most rewarding endeavors they have ever experienced.

To ensure the credibility and integrity of each volunteer, National CASA has mandated rules and process requirements that each applicant must meet to be accepted for the training program. The process includes: completion of application, background checks, reference checks, and a screening process.

Contact me or any CASA staff if you have any questions or concerns regarding the application process.

Thank you again for showing an interest in working with our program. I look forward to having you join our wonderful group of dedicated volunteers.

Sincerely,

Brenda Lancaster

“CASA means the a lot to me…I wanted to help the children in my community, but did not feel I was capable of fostering without becoming overly attached. [My coworker] convinced me to take the CASA training and work as a volunteer.

Frances Allsup, Executive Director of CASA Southeast Mississippi

“I would love to say that I’ve been a tremendous help to the children that have been assigned to me; but, that would only speak half truths.  The experiences have been life changing as much for me as for the families that I’ve worked with and I would not trade the experiences for all the money in the world.”

Middie R. Blake, CASA Volunteer

The look on that child’s face when they finally come to realize and accept that someone is sincerely committed to helping, no matter how long it might take, is priceless.
