CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is a national organization with over 950 programs across the country. We are a volunteer powered network of committed people, from all walks of life, who advocate for abused and neglected children on their journey through the youth court system. The dedicated volunteers are recruited, trained and supervised by program staff to provide a voice for these children during court proceedings.
About This Position
This exciting new role focuses on the expansion of an already well established and long standing organization’s foundational principles. The qualified applicant will work closely with Direct Service and Operational Staff to increase volunteerism in George and Greene Counties, as well as expanding the
current programmatic offerings to the service area.
Job Description
An Advocate Supervisor provides professional staff support to program volunteers, ensuring that children/youth involved with the program receive sound advocacy and early permanency planning. Under general supervision, he/she conducts and/or assists in recruiting, training, screening, assigning, and evaluating volunteers. He/she prepares official documents, case files, court reports, and performs related work as required to ensure that the abused and/or neglected children/youth receive quality advocacy in court. The Advocate Supervisor/Program Development Staff will have a reduced case load focused on George and Greene Counties. Additionally, they will work with the Director of Operations and Executive Director to expand
programmatic offerings to include TBRI intervention and the inclusion of Canine Therapy to the entire service area.
Qualifications
- Associate degree preferred or one (1) year of experience in social services or related field and/or
working with volunteers - Strong understanding of the program’s mission, policies, and procedures
- Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office software and Excel
- Detail oriented record keeping and reporting ability
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong time-management and decision-making skills
- Ability to accurately document data and interpret data reports
- Ability to work as a team member or independently
- Ability to multi-task
- Understanding of program protocol/chain of command
Supervision
The Advocate Supervisor reports directly to the Director of Advocate Supervisor, The Director of Operations, and the Executive Director, any of whom are responsible for his/her performance evaluations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Complete CASA pre-service volunteer training within the first three (3) months of hire and National
CASA TOF/Training of Facilitators within one (1) year of hire
- Completes twelve (12) hours of continuing education annually
- Conduct official business in a professional and courteous manner
- Conduct and/or assist with volunteer recruitment, training, and screening in Geroge/Greene Counties
- Conduct and/or assist with direct service-related trainings, projects, activities, and events in George/Greene Counties
- Assist with and/or schedule, coordinate, organize, and conduct continuing education opportunities in George/Greene Counties
- Prepare monthly case and volunteer lists, statistical data reports, and all mandated National CASA reports
- Organize and maintain detailed case records and update volunteer files monthly
- Assign cases to volunteers in consultation with the Advocate Manager and/or the Director of Advocate Supervisors
- Prepare official court documents and correspondence
- Attend individual case and shelter hearings as assigned
- Attend team meetings, foster care reviews, etc. regarding assigned cases whenever possible
- Attend regular and as-needed meetings with the Advocate Manager and/or Director of Advocate Supervisors to review case-related issues and volunteer status/performance
- Maintain regular contact (at least once monthly) with assigned volunteers to inform them of case related and/or program activities
- Manage active volunteers – assist, guide, support, consult, and inform
- Conduct annual evaluations of assigned volunteers
- Collaborate with other direct service program staff, the court, social services, law enforcement, schools, and other involved agencies
- Assist when requested, with program media posts/promotions – social, television, radio, newspaper, etc. – concerning recruitment for volunteers, volunteer pre-service training schedules, continuing education opportunities, and any event and activity specifically hosted for the volunteers
- Perform general office duties associated with the role of Advocate Supervisor and all other duties as requested by the Advocate Manager, Director of Advocate Supervisors, and/or the Executive Director
- Work directly with the Operations staff to develop and enhance programmatic reach.
The position is a minimum of 40 hours per week. The position requires some evening and weekend work assignments.
Compensation and Benefits: Salary of $35,700/yearly, Medical insurance for the employee paid by company, Paid Sick and Vacation, 14 Federal Holidays off typically to follow county holiday schedule.
